This is especially important to prepare the swimmer and parents\/carers with an understanding of the changes that the swimmer may experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Coaches meet monthly to discuss whether any swimmers should be considered for transition. All queries regarding squad criteria should be directed to the Head Coach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A1 Squad: Open, National Age Group, National Development, Youth and State Squads<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n- Competing in regional championship finals and\/or national championship level<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- 600 FINA points in multiple events<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Attend 8 to 10 pool sessions per week<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Pool sessions are 2 hours<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Attend 2 to 3 gym sessions per week<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- A positive attitude to all aspects of training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
A2 Squad:<\/strong> Open, National Age Group, National Development, Youth and State Squads<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n- Competing in regional championship finals and\/or national championship level<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- 500 FINA points in multiple events<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Attend 7 to 8 pool sessions per week<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Pool sessions are 2 hours<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Attend 1 to 2 gym sessions per week<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- A positive attitude to all aspects of training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
A3 Squad: Open, National Age group, National Development, Youth and State Squads<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n- Competing in regional championship finals and\/or national championship level<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- 400 FINA points in the 200 m IM and any 100 m event<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Attend 6 pool sessions per week<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Pool sessions are 2 hours<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- A positive attitude to all aspects of training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

B Squad: State Junior and Age Group development squad<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n- Training towards and regularly competing in swim meets<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- 200 FINA points in the 200 m IM and any other 100 m event<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Typically 15 years old or younger<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Attend 5 pool sessions per week<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Pool sessions are 1.5 hours<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- A positive attitude to all aspects of training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
C Squad: Junior squad for competitive skills and technique<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n- 150 FINA points in multiple events<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Able to swim 200 m of freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke, and 100 m of butterfly, with adequate technique<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Able to perform competition skills (starts, turns and finishes) for all events<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Typically 14 years old or younger<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Attend 3 to 4 sessions per week<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Pool sessions are 1 hour<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
D Squad: Development squad (transition from Learn to Swim to club-level training)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n- Able to swim 100 m of freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke, and 25 m of butterfly, with adequate technique<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Able to perform an underwater somersault both forwards and backwards, and dive off the side of the pool<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Able to swim continuously for 45 minutes<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Typically 13 years old or younger<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Attend 2 to 3 sessions per week<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Pool sessions are 1 hour<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

Masters \/ Recreational Squad: Fitness and technique squad<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n- Suitable for anyone wanting to improve their fitness<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Able to swim 100 m of freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke, and 25 m of butterfly, with adequate technique<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Able to swim continuously for 1 hour in a squad following the coach’s program<\/li>\n\n\n\n
