SISA (SOUTHERN INLAND SWIMMING ASSOCIATION) MEETS
- Swimmers must have ‘Full Swimmer’ membership in Swim Central, not ‘Club Only’. If you have purchased a Club Only membership and would like to upgrade to Full Swimmer, instructions for this process are available here
- WWSC Swimmers are able to represent their club at any local SISA carnival held across the region during both long course and short course seasons
- Qualifying times are not necessary to enter these meets
- A calendar of events and links to information can be found on the SISA website
- Entry is via Swim Central.
- These meets are particularly good for younger swimmers looking for race practice and for all swimmers to have fun and meet friends from other regions while improving their own personal best times in the pool.
SISA CHAMPIONSHIPS
- These are Regional Championship meets that bring together the three zones of the Southern Inland Region – Riverina, South West & Murray
- WWSC Swimmers are able to represent their club at these Championships which are held during both long course and short course seasons
- Programs and information can be found on the SISA website
- LC Championships also incorporate Speedo Sprint heats
- Qualifying times are not necessary to enter these meets
- Entry is via Swim Central
SPEEDO SPRINTS
- Speedo Sprints are for junior swimmers, aged 13 and under
- They include 50m sprints of all four strokes
- Regional heats are held as part of SISA LC Championships each February
- The top four fastest swimmers from each region, in each age group, progress to the Speedo State finals in Sydney in March
- Regional Relay teams also compete in the finals in Sydney
- SISA shirts can be purchased by those competing in Sydney, and SISA caps are presented to all new representatives
- Entries for heats are via Swim Central
- Entries for finals are completed by the SISA Development Convenor.
BROPHY
- WWSC Swimmers may qualify to represent the Riverina Zone at the Brophy Meet held at the AIS in Canberra each March
- Brophy Meet consists of 50m events and relays only
- For Wagga swimmers to be eligible, the swimmer must compete at three Riverina Zone long course carnivals throughout the summer. Carnivals include; Griffith, Leeton, Deniliquin, Narrandera, Hay and Wagga Wagga. SISA Champs and Country Regionals are also considered as qualifying carnivals for the Riverina team when held within the SISA region
- Swimmers will need to be one of the fastest two 50m swimmers in each age group at the zone carnivals (age on the day of Brophy). National and State team medallists cannot compete in their form stroke
- Online entry is not available for this meet – Participation is through an Expression of Interest process, with the fastest swimmers selected from those in the Riverina who have submitted an EOI
- Swimmers will be advised of team selections via email
- Arrangements may vary, and will be advised by ACT Swimming each year
- Swimmer and Spectator tickets need to be purchased prior to the event. SISA Shirts and Riverina Representative Caps may be purchased to wear during the competition.
NSW COUNTRY REGIONALS
- There are three NSW Country Regional events held on the same weekend across three different country towns in January each year
- The competition is open to all affiliated members of NSW Country Clubs
- No entry qualifying times are applicable with the exception of some longer distance events
- Restrictions are placed on any swimmer who has won a medal in any State Championship (Country, State Age or State Open) in either LC or SC from the February prior. These swimmers may compete but are ineligible for medals in that stroke
- Entry is via Swim Central
- These meets are a great opportunity to compete at a higher level, without travelling to the city areas.
NSW COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
- NSW Country Championships are considered to be one of the pinnacle events for all regional clubs. Both the Long and Short Course Country Championships are prestigious events and a great achievement if qualifying to compete
- WWSC Swimmers may qualify to represent their club at these championships
- These Championships are held at SOPAC in Sydney
- The competition is open to all affiliated members of NSW Country Clubs who obtain the necessary qualifying times within the advised timeframe
- The Long Course Championships are held in February each year, and the Short Course Championships are held in July each year
- Entry is via Swim Central
- Parents should monitor times in Swim Central to determine if they meet the qualifying times. The qualifying times are published a few months prior to each event, and will be available on the Swimming NSW events page
- At both of these Championships, the white club cap should be worn whilst competing. The traditional club shirt should be worn by all swimmers whilst on the podium and collecting medals.
NSW STATE AGE/OPEN/MC CHAMPIONSHIPS
- WWSC Swimmers may qualify to represent their club at these championships
- These Championships are all held at SOPAC in Sydney
- Competitions are open to all affiliated members of NSW Clubs who obtain the qualifying times within the advised timeframe
- These Championships are held in both long course and short course seasons, with separate competitions for Senior and Junior age groups
- Entry is via Swim Central
- Parents should monitor times in Swim Central to determine if they meet the qualifying times. The qualifying times are published a few months prior to each event, and will be available on the Swimming NSW events page
- WWSC recognises these events as being an elite representative level and swimmers who qualify and compete are rewarded by being presented with a special State Team shirt and cap, which should be worn at the championships and whilst on the podium and collecting medals.
AUSTRALIAN AGE/OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS
- WWSC Swimmers (aged 13 & over for females and 14 & over for males) may qualify to represent their club at these championships
- Competitions are open to all affiliated members of Australian Clubs who obtain the qualifying times within the advised timeframe
- Entry is via Swim Central
- Parents should monitor times in Swim Central to determine if they meet the qualifying times. The qualifying times are published a few months prior to each event, and will be available on the Swimming NSW events page
- These Championships are held at alternating venues around Australia each season
- WWSC recognises those who qualify for these championships as being the club’s highest achievers and National Team uniforms are presented to those competing to wear during the event and whilst on the podium and collecting medals.
